About Us
Iniciativa Amotocodie is legally established as a non-profit association.
It has a permanent field team made up of five persons and offices in Filadelfia (Paraguayan Chaco). The team’s work is supplemented with the external collaboration of several specialized professionals.
The actions of Iniciativa Amotocodie are followed closely by the institution’s Board, which includes specialists in different areas of intervention who come from the national as well as international spheres.

Institutional relations

Iniciativa Amotocodie (IAM) relates and coordinates its activities with centralised and decentralised government bodies, such as the Ministry for Environment (SEAM), INDI (National Institute of Indigenous Peoples), the State Attorney General’s Office and the Governor´s Office of the Department of Boquerón.
With SEAM, Iniciativa Amotocodie has signed a three-year agreement that establishes the framework for concrete inter-institutional cooperation projects in the area of environmental activities.

Iniciativa Amotocodie maintains a close and permanent relationship of support and mutual cooperation with UNAP (Union of Ayoreo Natives of Paraguay). As of March 2003, Benno Glauser and Jieun Kang, members of the operational team, have also been acting as official advisors to this organisation, as appointed by the UNAP Assembly.

Iniciativa Amotocodie coordinates its activities on a permanent basis with SOBREVIVENCIA/ Friends of the Earth - Paraguay.
Iniciativa Amotocodie has a cooperation agreement with Fungir Foundation in Formosa, Argentina.
IAM is a member of ACHA - Articulación Chaqueña, a forum of organizations of the civil society of the Paraguayan Chaco working for the indigenous peoples; of ROAM (Network of Non-governmental Environmental Organisations of Paraguay); and of Pojoaju – the Association of NGOs of Paraguay.
It is also part of Iniciativa Walamba, a network that brings together a number of NGOs of Bolivia, Argentina and Paraguay, the three countries that make up the Gran Chaco.

Iniciativa Amotocodie is part of the International Alliance for the Protection of Isolated Peoples and is on its Executive Committee.
Iniciativa Amotocodie maintains a relationship with the European Gran Chaco Network, as well as with UICN, the World Rainforest Movement (WRM) and the Global Forest Coalition (Holland).
